Mask issues: Finding the perfect mask can take time, but will pay off. Make sure during your fitting that you find the right size and style that you’ll find comfortable. You don’t want a mask that feels too loose or too tight. Try fitting your mask while lying down to get the best seal. For videos and information on fitting your specific mask click here. Air pressure problem: Getting used to the air pressure can be a difficult challenge for new users. If you feel your pressure is too high, check your machine for a “ramp” feature that slowly increases pressure as you fall asleep. If that doesn’t work or you feel the pressure is too low, talk to your doctor about adjusting your pressure setting or possibly switching to bilevel therapy (two separate pressures for inhaling and exhaling). Make sure to practice wearing your mask while reading or watching TV – it can take some time to get used to.
Feeling dried out: This is a common complaint that easily fixed. Most PAP machines feature heated humidification that adds moisture to the air you’re breathing. If you are already using your heated humidification, try increasing the level.

Cleaning will only maintain your supplies for so long and eventually you’ll need to replace them. Most supplies are engineered for comfort and hygiene and over time will wear out. New supplies ensure your sleep therapy is working right for you, and most insurances will reimburse you for new supplies on a scheduled timeline.
