View our travel section.

Do I have to use distilled water in my humidifier?

Yes – the manufacturer recommends distilled water, as it prevents bacterial buildup. Most grocery stores carry distilled water; it is in gallon jugs and is usually less than $1 per gallon.

Do I need to change the water every night even though I don’t use it all?

Yes – the water should be changed daily.

What does compliance mean?

Compliance refers to your adherence to sleep therapy (your use of the device).

Medicare and other insurances typically require a 90-day trial period on sleep therapy from the date you were set up to do the following:

• Use your sleep therapy at least 4 hours each night within the next few weeks.

• Visit your doctor for a follow-up appointment 31 to 91 days after starting therapy.

Do I have to use a PAP device for the rest of my life?

PAP therapy is the most effective therapy that currently exists to treat sleep apnea. It is important to talk to your doctor to understand the factors that are causing your condition, to better understand how to correct it.
