Insurance Specialist

Purpose: The Insurance Specialist obtains, updates and maintains information relating to insurance policies and procedures for patient support.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Educate personnel on insurance carrier changes and requirements
  • Complete all necessary paperwork and obtain supporting documentation to assure timely processing of work orders, including insurance verification
  • Create and maintain managed care database as it relates to products/services being administered from the support center, including:
    • Plan contact information: phone number, remit-to addresses, insurance identification numbers, processor/company, etc.
    • Websites, user IDs and passwords for eligibility and benefits information, etc.
    • Reimbursement frequency and prior authorization guidelines
    • Supporting documentation requirements


  • High school graduate (diploma) or equivalent
  • B.A. or B.S. degree preferred
  • 2 years of customer service/relations experience
  • 2 years of provider relations or managed care experience
